on oakland road. police say at 3:00 a.m. this morning, they received a 911 call from someone saying a man had been stabbed. they arrived and were told by witnesses that during a party a fight broke out and a man was stabbed once in the stomach. he was rushed to the hospital but died. police are still trying to figure out what the argument was about. >> we don't have any motive for the homicide. but we are actively investigation. we are investigating the incident this morning. >> reporter: police tell us the victim was 30 years old. he's not been identified because they are trying to get in touch with his family. now, we were told that by -- by one of the guests that this was a graduation party but that guest wouldn't tell us much more than that. we do know there was about 20 to 30 people in attendance. the homicide unit has been out here on the scene gathering evidence. but police would still like to talk to witnesses who left the scene before they arrived. back out here live, you can see here's -- we're in a business park and the building is right next door where the latest homicide happened

this morning up the nimitz freeway through oakland. plus just getting word of what sounds like a pretty bad accident in daly city. we'll have details coming up. >>> good morning, everyone. it's tuesday, december 11. i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. 5:01. we are on the scene of breaking news in the east bay at an apartment fire that started about an hour ago. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington is in hayward getting the latest. >> reporter: that apartment completely destroyed and there was a mother who lived there with her young son. she told us that she thinks somebody threw something into her home and that's what caused it to set on fire. so arson investigators are on scene. they are trying to sort all of this out but we are on dixon street right by the bart station. this was a one-alarm fire but again it caused significant damage and firefighters say that that family won't be able to return home. nobody was hurt. pg&e crews also on scene securing some lines and we are still waiting to get some more information but as i said arson investigators are on scene. elissa h

-morning fire in east oakland is under control again. firefighters just went back to 64th and international boulevard putting out a fire for the second time this morning. they battled the single alarm earlier at 1:30 when flames reignited just minutes ago. firefighters just left the scene, no injuries. the cause of the fire is under investigation. but reports say it may have been caused by some squatters nearby. >>> the same building caught fire back in august. it took firefighters about half hour to put it out then. at the time it was an appliance store. >>> the san francisco gang task force is investigating a shooting in the mission district. a man was wounded about 8:00 last night near 15th and natomas. he is expected to survive. one suspect was seen leaving the scene, no description. police don't have a motive. >>> four pipe bombs in four days in pleasant hill. the latest bomb was found outside the elementary school. somebody found a pipe bomb in the bushes outside the school yesterday. they call the police and the bomb squad took care of it. >> it was lit but didn't detonate. >> we hop
in hercules. here are those people. they have been identified as president marlene and aide oakland resident both are charged with murder tyler miller, from hercules. and marianne and. these three are charged with accessories. this was thursday, when a motorcyclist found these in the middle of brussels street in san francisco, bound and gagged. both had a substantial injuries and be needed to transported to san francisco general. the male, steven reed died at the hospital. there are still unknown questions weather if they were beaten elsewhere and then it dumped in the streets. police provided new details on this crime. listen. >> it was established a there was an extensive relationships between the victims and the suspects in this case. i cannot give you details about the relationships. and also note maga shots will be able as we have pending identification. it is part of this investigation and the motive for this attack is under investigation. i will not be able to provide details on what led to the attack but what i can say is that the male appeared to have a blunt force trauma and a gun

this weekend across the country, in oakland and san francisco, the same scene. a record-breaking gun buyback. almost 600 guns taken off the streets. each gun exchanged for $200. people waited in long and cold lines for hours for the chance to make that exchange in oakland and san francisco. the guns the city has collected will be cross referenced with a database to make sure they were not used in any crime. and then those guns will be melted down and turned into less deadly things like park benches and signposts. i bet if anybody needed plowshares, they could make those too. those weapons in california were collected by the police, but the buyback part was funded by nonprofit groups, including $100,000 donation from a guy who runs a medical marijuana dispensary. and apparently that's a good way to make a lot of money. in brooklyn, new york this weekend, people went to trade guns for debit cards at two different locations. the program was run by the police and the brooklyn district attorney's office. more than 130 guns were turned in in exchange for up to $200 a gun. in evanston, illinois, no
